Finn Update

Mr. Finn has gotten croup quite a few times lately, so our pediatrician had us take him to an ENT a couple weeks ago. Our ENT had us take him to Kosair Children's Hospital this morning for a Laryngoscopy and Bronchgoscopy (sp?!). Which is a fancy way of saying they put a scope down his throat. GREAT NEWS, he is going to be just fine! He was diagnosed with Tracheomalacia. Which means his trachea wall is a little underdeveloped. He will outgrow it and no extra treatment is necessary. It explains why he catches croup everytime he gets a cold. And why he always sounds congested and has a barky cough he can't seem to get rid of! We just have to keep a very close watch on him when he is sick and take him in to the doctors at the first sign of a cold so he can get those nasty steroids (which we try to do anyway!). Either way, he is going to be just fine, so we are relieved!!! Poor Finny sounds like he smoked a few packs of cigarettes, but should feel better in 24-48 hours from his scope this morning!
